Customising the chat widget
Bot configuration
Make the widget look like part of your site
The Embed & design page lets you customise everything about how the chat widget looks on your customers' screens — and shows you a live preview as you tweak.
Identity
- Widget header name
- The text at the top of the chat panel. "Acme Support" or "Chat with Sam" both work.
- Greeting message
- The first message customers see when they open the chat. Keep it short and inviting.
- Input placeholder
- Greyed-out text in the message box. Default is "Type a message..." but you can be more specific: "Ask about pricing, returns, or delivery..."
Colours
- Primary
- The main button colour and accent. Pick something that matches your brand.
- Secondary
- The other end of the gradient. For a flat look, set this the same as Primary.
- Header background
- The colour at the top of the chat panel. Dark colours look most professional.
Position
Bottom-left or bottom-right. Right is conventional; left is good if your existing site has elements in the bottom-right corner.
Live preview
The preview panel on the right updates instantly as you change colours and text. What you see is exactly what your customers will see.
Saving
Hit Save changes. The new design is served to your widget within 5 seconds — your customers see the update on their next page load.
The embed snippet itself never changes when you change the design — once it's on your site, all design tweaks happen instantly through this dashboard.
